By Sir Arnold’s standards, these two are the picture of perfection. Who am I to argue with such sage wisdom? :)   Meet Derek & Lauren:

Derek and Lauren wisely chose the charming town of Oak Bluffs for their sweet and intimate destination wedding. While the forecast threatened rain, the clouds were teasing yet kind, and not a drop got in the way of the festivities. Bride & groom began their mornings at separate private residences. Surrounded by friends and family, their preparation for the wedding was steeped in comfort and brimming with joy.

The ceremony was a lovely melding of tenderness and tradition. My favorite moments from their mass are emotional bookends.  Who could resist Derek’s expression as Lauren walked towards him, and Lauren’s spirited grin as she walked back down the aisle on the arm of her husband… pure sweetness.

Following the ceremony, we snuck in a couple newlywed snuggles, then hopped on the trolley. Between the toasts, the carousel, and the missing groomsman (who was off purchasing refreshments for a second round of toasts), I can’t remember the last time I heard this much laughter during a portrait hour!

Just before entering the reception, the Mr & Mrs sneaked into this irresistibly lush nook for a few minutes alone. Is it me, or does their cuteness know no bounds?

All of their loved ones gathered to celebrate at the adoooorable Sailing Camp Park. The aptly-themed nautical details added an extra dose of whimsy to the already delightful day. A very sweet touch is the use of Adirondack chairs as a guestbook. I imagine Lauren & Derek as they grow old together, sitting on these chairs on the porch. Holding each others wrinkling hands and smiling at each other, they can recall being young and exuberantly in love, and be taken back to where their marriage began. Maybe Derek can even bring out that rockin’ custom Vineyard Vines bow tie for days like that. ;)

The party went on and on, late into the night. Dance off challenges were accepted. Cigars were smoked. Cakes (yes, plural) were consumed. Most importantly, Lauren & Derek surrounded by unending bliss, support, and genuine love. Their night was sweet… full of light… in a word, perfection. :)

Derek and Lauren, thank you so much for including James and  I in your oh-so special day.  We echo your own words when we say that we wish you lived closer and that we could be friends. If we ever make it out to Indiana, you will be the first people we call! Until then… we will just try to lure you East. ;)

We both wish you all the happiness that you truly deserve.

Cheers,
Briana (and James!)

Aaron & Ellen have a sweet, storybook love. An American boy meets a British girl in a country foreign to each of them. Friendship eventually grows to love. Theirs is a tale that spans many years and great distances.  It has not been without conflict, separated by both ocean and bureaucracy. Thankfully, on this joyous summer day, they were able to begin a new chapter, side by side.

I could think of no better place in Boston for 2 artists with a European flair to be married than the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. It was a beautiful day full of color, warmth, tears… and (my fingers were crossed for this) fascinators. It was a occasion light on overly styled details, but heavy on intimate moments, and that is a thing of beauty! Here is a peek into this significant event in their love story:

Aaron & Ellen, I am so happy to have worked with you, and to now be able to call you friends! I look forward to standing beside you and supporting you both during your happily ever after. :)

Cheers,

Briana

I should probably express right now that I love beer. Good beer. Craft beers and microbrews, in particular. In addition to better taste and satisfaction of supporting smaller businesses, I find that craft breweries still see brewing (and drinking) as an art. the   Upon moving to Boston, enjoying a good ale has transitioned from pleasure to interest to hobby. As I type this, James is in our kitchen embarking on his first home brewing adventure.

James and I are not quite sure how this started, but most milestones in both our dating and married life has involved a good brew, our most epic yet being a tour of the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin, with all of our guests, the day after our wedding. Here is a cherished picture of that day… destination weddings are awesome. ;)

Last week was the first trip we have taken alone, with no other responsibilities or obligations, since our honeymoon over 3 years ago.  Naturally, we realized we needed to keep with our consistently successful travel theme of Hoppy = Happy,  so we headed up to Portsmouth, NH.

Portsmouth is a lovely town full of good food, great beer (holla!), and charming shops. I believe it deserves a spot on a list for Perfect New England Getaways. I must give a quick shout out to Scott & Doug at The Ale House Inn for our perfect accommodations, and for being the greatest of hosts. Their warmth and knowledge pushed our trip from enjoyable to beyond fabulous. Also, this inn was every artists dream. If I could make their lobby my living room, I would. I’m surprised I didn’t damage the gorgeous wood flooring with my constant drooling. The inn is a former Brew Co. warehouse, remodeled with such amazing style and attention to detail. Their website does not lie when it claims to be Portsmouth’s ultimate destination for those seeking a unique blend of history, style and comfort. I could not recommend them more highly!

The rest of our trip consisted of our favorite things. Local pubs, bookstores, sifting through junk yard-esque antique shops (scoring a bottle press for our home brewing in the process), and naturally, taking far too many photos. Though really, can there every be enough photos? :)   Here are a few highlights:

James and I return to everyday life tomorrow. Refreshed. Life is beautiful again. :)

Cheers, Briana
